"Growing Our Legacy of
Spirit and Service."

Bible Verse

"There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit gives them. There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served. There are different abilities to perform service, but the same God gives ability to everyone for their particu
lar service."  - - 1 Cor 12: 4

Dear Daughters,

We are all now home from the 126th Continental Congress.  It was absolutely stellar. Michigan Daughters please take a bow in honor of all of your accomplishments.

Our Michigan Daughters and Chapters took numerous National Awards and received lots of recognition. Your certificates are in the process of being distributed. All awards will be posted on the State Website when we receive a final printout from NSDAR.

The Guardian Trust Campaign totals were announced as a surprise during a parade of “Pillars”. Vesta DeRiso our State Champion/Chairman decorated our pillar and along with our Outstanding Page Scholarship recipient Elizabeth Hertel, paraded it across the stage of Constitution Hall.  The amount announced was over $138,000. This was more than was printed on our pillar and much more than the goal Michigan Daughters set ($115,000) at our 115th State Conference. Congratulations Michigan Daughters!  You are amazingly generous.

The total goal set for the Guardian Trust was $25,000,000 and to date $10,000,000 has been raised.  We’ll see how this plays out in the future.

In the meantime, there are a few acknowledgements to be made.  NSDAR has been very sensitive to privacy issues. Your State Regent has not received notification that any individual or chapter has made a donation to this campaign.  For that reason all thank you letters and recognition pins were sent from the National Society for donations made to them directly.

Your Regent has been made aware that individuals from100% of our chapters made donations and members at large also contributed.  The Louisa St. Clair Chapter has publicly announced a donation of $50,000 to the Guardian Trust.

The Stoney Creek Chapter has gone public with the sale of ornaments to raise funds for the Guardian Trust.  These are two of our larger chapters.  We thank them heartily for their largess, for setting a good example and for understanding  noblesse oblige.

Without a doubt every Michigan Chapter did their best. We are great and succeeded because we worked together for the greater good. Thank you all.

Lastly, thanks to all of our Daughters who stayed through the Memorial Service on Sunday Morning.  Our Hon. State Regent and Past Vice President General Betty Eastin was memorialized during the service. This is so important to our Legacy of Spirit and Service.

We honor and remember those who have served us faithfully. Michigan made an impressive showing and demonstrated their respect for Betty’s service.

Michigan Daughters honor Service and Spirit.  I am so proud to count myself as one of you.

Daughters using the following Internet Service Providers may not be receiving
email from DAR of Michigan. These ISP's are classifying email from
as spam and blocking transmission to you.  Please put on your spam
white list (meaning list of good people) or contact your internet provider for details.

If you are Windows user, Microsoft very much wants you to migrate to Windows 10.
For those of you using Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1 this is a free and relatively
painless upgrade. If you are using Windows XP or earlier versions, you need to consult with your nearest computer Guru. If your computer is 4 to 5 years old or older, you may need a new computer in order to use Windows 10 and you will be using Windows 10.

One word of caution to all, do not allow an upgrade of your browser to Internet Explorer 11. If you do so, this website among many others will become useless. Instead, I would install any one of several free browsers, all of which are better than Internet Explorer. These include Chrome by Google, Firefox by Mozilla, Safari by Apple, and Opera. They are more secure and much faster.  Questions

Has Your Computer Become a Slow-poke? Does It Balk at Opening Some Programs or Files?

This is a normal result of using your computer and is an expected yet undesirable behavior.  Your computer hardware is probably in good health, but the software can become corrupt through no fault of yours. However there is a cure other than the widely advertised PC Matic @ $49.95 and the doctor bill is zip, nada, zero - FREE.  In fact the cure should be applied routinely just as you would routinely change oil in your automobile.

RE: eBlast Messages

When you receive an e-mail from DAR - Do NOT Reply, please don't just hit Reply. Instead, read the message carefully to see who authored the message and then reply to her address.

If you simply hit Reply, two things will happen: 1. Your reply will be received by a dumb computer and be discarded. AND  2.  You will receive an e-mail message with the Subject: Invalid E-mail. The message will be "Your reply to the DAR eBlast was sent to a mailbox which cannot respond to your message. Please resend your message to the e-mail address of the person named in the original message."

Keeping Up With DAR

DAR of Michigan uses several methods to keep you informed of DAR activities. The "DAR of Michigan Newsletter" is a prime example. Another method is the use of mass e-mail messages called e-Blast; however, you must register for this service. To register for general DAR of Michigan announcements and/or Newsletter alerts, click below:

DAR E-mail

If you are a chapter regent, a state chairman, or state officer; we have your e-mail address on file and keep separate mailing lists for each of the three groups. Even so, this does not guarantee that your e-mail address is on the above referenced general announcement (e-Blast) list or newsletter alert list. So please use the link above.

If you have not received e-mail notices from the State within the past couple of months, you should re-register and/or check to see if your internet provider is not forwarding mail from because it considers it to be spam.  Mass mailings are often blocked as spam. It's a case of "big brother thinks he knows best."
