Computer Is Slow?

Programs/Files Won't Always Open?

Registry cleaning is an essential part of computer maintenance though few computer users know about it.   This cleaning has absolutely nothing do do with viruses or malware of any kind, and it has nothing to do with file fragmentation.  As the computer operates the program registry becomes "corrupted" and needs to be cleaned/repaired. Symptoms are slow computer response and/or programs/files which won't open.  Registry cleaning should - must - be done once each week to keep your computer running at maximum efficiency.

Two free programs are very effective in curing registry problems. Both should be used because no one program can do it all.  In fact, I recommend that a third program, for which you have to pay, be used in addition to the free programs.  This is a case where more is better!

1.  The first free program is CCleaner:  It may be downloaded and installed from here:  http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download

After opening CCleaner, click on Registry in the left hand column, then click on Scan for Issues  Then follow instructions as they come. (Do not click on Cleaner in left hand column - if you do, all stored passwords may go Bye! Bye!)

2.  The second free program is Glary Utilities:  It may be downloaded from here:   http://www.michdar.com/downloads/gusetup.exe

After opening Glary, click on the 1-Click Maintenance tab.  Make sure that all little boxes are checked except for Tracks Eraser which should be un-checked.  Then click on Scan for Issues.  After it scans (a couple of minutes), then click on Repair Problems.  This last step may take a second to complete.

3.  There are several "for pay" registry cleaners such as PC Matic; however, we like Perfect Registry by Raxco.  Add this to your collection and run all three each week.  This combined with a good anti-virus/anti-spyware problem will give you many hours of trouble free computing.

These registry cleaners should be used each and every week.  Just like changing oil on a car, it is absolutely essential maintenance.
